This is a 33 hour class suitable for adults (age 16 or above), to be held over 5 weekdays.
Syllabus for Printmaking Class
Experience a variety of printmaking techniques for paper and fabric: linocut, screen printing, thermofax, and polychromatic printing, and Xylene transfer.
Linocut:
Plan and transfer a design
Cut the block/safety precautions
Mix ink and print
Register prints
Sign and number prints
Screen printing:
Ways of making the design: Masking tape, contact paper, paper template
Plan colors
Mix pigments and base extender
Stretch fabric
Print with one or more colors
Register prints
Set the color
Thermofax:
Design (computer or drawing)
Make the thermofax screen
Stretch fabric
Print
Polychromatic:
Transfer the drawing
Outline with resist paste
Paint with dyes
Stretch fabric
Print
Set the dyes by steaming
